The evaluation of this test is carried out every 1-2 weeks by the laboratory. Please expect a slightly longer processing time.
With each test, you will receive an information sheet with your personal test QR code (CaboCheck-ID), through which you can retrieve the test result.
Come by and let us prick your finger. We take blood from your fingertip and send your blood sample to a medical specialist laboratory at CaboLab or analyze it directly on site at CaboPoc. Please drink enough water beforehand (300ml).
You will receive an email after a few minutes (CaboPoc) or a few days (CaboLab) and can collect and discuss your results with us or access them online yourself. The results are displayed with a traffic light. If the traffic light is red or yellow, you can, if you wish, share the results with us. We will then review the results and advise you on what you should ideally do next.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a metabolite of testosterone and a potent androgen that plays an important role in the development of male sexual characteristics and hair follicle regulation. The laboratory value measures the DHT concentration in the blood.
A DHT test is recommended for: • Men with symptoms of hair loss or androgenetic alopecia • Patients with suspected hormonal disorders such as hypogonadism • Women with symptoms of hirsutism (increased body hair) or PCOS • Monitoring of patients under antiandrogen therapy
The test serves the diagnosis and monitoring of hormonal disorders related to DHT, such as hair loss, prostate diseases, or excessive hair growth.
A high DHT value can indicate: • Androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) • Prostate hyperplasia or prostate cancer • Hirsutism or PCOS in women A low DHT value can be caused by: • Hypogonadism (testosterone deficiency) • Antiandrogen therapy or 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors Symptoms of abnormal DHT levels can include: • Hair loss or increased hair growth • Decreased libido or erectile dysfunction
The test should be carried out in the morning, as DHT values, like other hormones, are subject to a daily rhythm.
• DHT is more specific than testosterone to assess androgen-dependent diseases such as hair loss or prostate diseases. • 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (e.g. finasteride) specifically lower DHT and are often used in androgenetic alopecia or prostate hyperplasia. • Chronic stress and hormone therapies can influence the values.
